Nick Wollner Bio
"Companies attempting
to 'position' themselves need to take a position. Optimally, it should
relate to something the market actually cares about."
The Cluetrain Manifesto
Nick founded 1919 in 2001 to fill a perceived need for a new breed of design and marketing firms. 20 years in advertising and film yielded confidence that a studio structure could deliver great creative across all media as well as great production with the same team. It was also time for him to channel all those years of experience in the gentle art of persuasion into a creative outlet.
"Messaging" combines strategy, copywriting, branding and charm. As Chief Messaging Officer, Nick offers the perfect complementary skill set to partner and Creative Director Peter Klueger's visionary art direction and graphic design.
Experienced at bringing unique creative ideas from concept to realization, Nick Wollner is a skilled orchestrator of teams made up of talented, swift practitioners of the persuasive arts. At 1919, Nick has been instrumental in developing the messaging strategies for clients such as the Sundance Preserve, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Papa John's Pizza, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Vail, the New York Jets, Lilly Pulitzer, and ImClone Systems. However, his true value rests in providing the creative vision for the execution of these strategies.
Prior to launching 1919, Nick was founder and president of Crossroads Films, one of the largest TV commercial production companies in the nation with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Through its six separate divisions, Crossroads produced two feature films, TV programming for Sony, American Airlines, and The New York Lottery; multiple music videos, corporate films and documentaries; and literally thousands of television commercials.
Peter Klueger Bio
"Style can not be delegated."
In Germany, he worked for some of Europe's top advertising agencies and brand identity firms and eventually founded his own design and branding studio before migrating to NYC. For the past 20 years he developed award winning creative marketing solutions for a range of consumer and lifestyle brands from Ralph Lauren, Mercedes Benz, and BMW to Kellogg's, Canon, Davidoff and Nivea. Our portfolio reflects Peter's unique visual style and demanding graphic sensibilities.
Before joining 1919, Peter worked as Global Creative Director of the
interactive ad agency <KPE> for a wide range of entertainment/
lifestyle/fashion focused companies including Sony and Sony Style,
Polo Ralph Lauren, Discovery Network, Miramax and Cablevision. He
developed branded websites for stars like Alicia Keys and celebrity
make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin. Previously he worked as Creative Director, at Ogilvy & Mather in New York, for American Express globally and as Associate Creative Director on Jaguar, IBM and Motorola. Peter's team won the highly competitive pitch for a global campaign for Motorola, Hello Moto, which continues today.
As a multimedia visionary, he directs commercials and shorts, works as a photographer, art director and designer. Peter's work is both elegant and approachable. His creative is inventive, innovative, and clever, but never contrived. While the design components are most sophisticated and often on the 'cutting edge', his work avoids drawing attention to itself, and stands out with a clear messaging, a 'timeless' quality. Strongly influenced by the multidiscipline Bauhaus movement of art and design, Peter is a visual communication graduate of Hannover State Academy of Fine Arts and also holds a master's degree in Multimedia and Film from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
